The Orthodox Church is undergoing a transformation in its response to the global crisis. The primary and similar secondary schools of the Diocese of Eastern America are helping to ensure that people are provided for the basic needs of food, clothing, shelter, education, as well as the spiritual and financial necessities of life for Christians and for seekers living among them. They are also serving as centers of worship for Christians and seekers, so that they may continue the practice of prayer, the Divine Liturgy, and all other liturgical worship. In addition to their educational, worship, and humanitarian services, the Diocese of Eastern America will also provide pastoral personnel to the city and area in which they serve.
The Orthodox Church in America (OCA), since its founding in 1990, has become a global movement not to be heard of in a generation at most. The OCA's work includes: pastoral provision (diaconate and priestly ordination), theological instruction, study in Rhodes, and theological discernment for ordained and laypersons. The OCA is a member of the World Council of Churches and the Assembly of Canonical Orthodox Bishops in the Americas. d2c66b5586
